Supporting Businesses & Promoting Family-Wage Jobs

Bruce Faires has worked for decades to make the Port of Edmonds a vital economic engine for the community. The marina, restaurants, marine industry businesses and the Harbor Square complex are important providers of family-wage jobs, and our thriving tourism industry brings new dollars into Edmonds and the surrounding community. His smart financial management is part of the reason less than 5% of the budget of the Port comes from tax dollars.

Continuing the Success of Our World-Class Marina

Bruce Faires has been a part of making the Edmonds Marina one of the premiere facilities of its kind, not just in the Puget Sound region, but in the United States. In 2006, a national industry publication named Edmonds Marina the Marina of the Year based on a growth and development, management, marketing, customer service, environmental stewardship, and community and industry contributions. These distinctions hold true today Рand Bruce is working to make sure the Marina continues to grow and thrive.

Protecting and Enhancing the Edmonds Marsh

Bruce Faires knows that the job of the Port and its Commission is to promote economic development in an environmentally responsible way – including protection of the Marsh. Over the years, the Port has invested almost $2 million to reduce and remove contamination from this unique and important saltwater wetland. The Marsh is healthier today than it has ever been, and Bruce is working to ensure the Marsh continues to be a healthy habitat for plants and wildlife.

Bruce Faires: Experienced Leadership

Your Port of Edmonds is a public business. Our job is to promote economic development in an environmentally responsible way including protection of the Marsh. For instance, the Port has invested almost $2 million to reduce and remove contamination from that unique and important saltwater wetland. Our job is to serve the public, our tenants and to manage the Edmonds Marina.

I am running on my record and that of the Port as one of the best run in our country. I pledge to continue my efforts to provide the public with both economic vitality and environmental stewardship together with an outstanding public waterfront experience. Only 5% of our $8.5 million budget comes from taxes and has been held constant for over ten years. Our finances are on track to cost the Port taxpayers nothing when replacement of the marina becomes necessary. I will continue to be committed to professional, transparent, collaborative, balanced and non-partisan governance of your Port.

I am proud to have served as an Edmonds Port Commissioner for eighteen years, and to be endorsed by Democrats, Republicans and Independents. Our efforts have and will continue to be to provide the Port residents and our boating tenants with both the highest possible economic vitality and an outstanding Edmonds waterfront experience.

I would be honored to have your support.
